Basis[rediger | rediger kilde]

Matematikkmarkup må være innenfor taggene <math> ... </math>.

TEX koden må skrives bokstavelig: MediaWiki-maler, forhåndsdefinerte maler og paramtere kan ikke brukes innenfor math-tagger: par av doble klammeparenteser ignoreres og "#" gir en feilmelding. Math-tagger virker imidlertid i then og else-delen av #if, etc.

LaTeX-kommandoer[rediger | rediger kilde]

LaTeX-kommandoer skiller mellom store og små bokstaver, og tar ett av følgende to formater:

  • De starter med en backslash \ og deretter har et navn bestående av bare bokstaver. Kommandonavn avsluttes med et mellomrom, et tall eller et hvilket som helst annet tegn enn en bokstav.
  • De består av en backslash \ og eksakt ett tegn som ikke er en bokstav.

Noen kommandoer trenger et argument, som må gis mellom klammeparenteser { } etter kommandonavnet. Noen kommandoer støtter valgfrie parametere, som legges til etter kommandonavnet i hakeparenteser [ ]. Den generelle syntaksen er:

Spesialtegn[rediger | rediger kilde]

Følgende symboler er reserverte tegn som enten har en spesiell betydning i LaTeX eller er utilgjengelig i alle fonter. Hvis du skriver dem direkte i teksten, vil de normalt ikke vises, men snarere gjøre ting du ikke ønsker.

Disse tegnene kan skrives ved å sette en backslash før dem:

De andre symbolene og mange flere kan vises med spesialkommandoer i matematiske formler eller som aksenter.

Backslashtegnet \ kan ikke skrives ved å legge til en annen backslash foran (\\); denne sekvensen brukes for linjeskift. For å introdusere en backslash i matematikkmodus, kan du bruke \backslash i stedet.

Kommandoen \~ gir en tilde som er plassert over neste bokstav. For eksempel gir \ñ resultatet ñ. For å skrive bare tegnet ~, bruk \~{} som plasserer en ~ over en tom boks. Alternativt gir \sim en stor sentrert ~ som kan være mer passende i noen situasjoner, men vises kanskje ikke riktig i enkle uttrykkk som konverteres til HTML.

På samme måte gir kommandoen \^ en hatt over neste karakter, for eksempel \^{o} gir ô. Hvis du vil vise tegnet ^ må du bruke \textasciicircum.

Mellomrom[rediger | rediger kilde]

"Blanktegn" slik som mellomrom og tabulator, behandles likt som "mellomrom" av LaTeX. Mange blanktegn etter hverandre behandles som ett "mellomrom".
