Timothy David Snyder (født 18. august 1969 i Ohio) er en amerikansk professor i historie, mest kjent for boken Dødsmarkene, Europa mellom Hitler og Stalin.

Timothy Snyder mottok en bachelorgrad ved Brown University i Rhode Island i 1991 og en doktorgrad i moderne euroepisk historie ved Oxford University i 1995. Han arbeidet deretter ved Harvard University og ved akademiske institutter i Paris, Warszawa og Wien. Fra 2001 har han vært ansatt ved Yale University hvor han er professor i historie med Øst-Europa, Sentral-Europa og holocaust som spesialfelt.

Boken Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin utkom i 2010. Boken handler om massemyrderiene av 14 millioner sivile og krigsfanger som ble foretatt av Sovjetunionen under Josef Stalin og Tyskland under Adolf Hitler i de såkalte blodlandene i perioden 1933-1945. Omtrådene Snyder omtaler som blodlandene (dødsmarken) er områder som i dag utgjør Polen, Ukraina, Hviterussland, De baltiske statene og deler av Russland.

Boken ble av flere aviser og magasiner kåret til årets beste bok i 2010, bl.a. av The Economist, Financial Times og The New Republic. I 2012 ble den utgitt på norsk med tittelen: Dødsmarkene. Europa mellom Hitler og Stalin.

Snyder har leseferdigheter i 10 europeiske språk, inkludert tysk, russisk, polsk, ukrainsk, hviterussisk, jiddisch, tsjekkisk og slovakisk.
