Live Aid
Live Aid var en rockekonsert (veldedighetskonsert) som ble holdt den 13. juli 1985. Initiativtakere til konserten var Bob Geldof og Midge Ure og formålet var å samle inn penger til de sulterammede i Etiopia. Konserten ble hovedsakelig avholdt på Wembley stadion i London (med et publikum på om lag 72 000, Gray oppgir 80.000[1]) og på John F. Kennedy Stadium i Philadelphia (med om lag 90 000 publikummere; Gray oppgir 100.000[1]). Det ble også avholdt mindre konserter i Sydney og i Moskva. Konserten var tidenes største satellittoverførte TV-sending, hvor man hadde seere fra om lag 150 land.
Antall TV-seere verden over er anslått til 1,5 milliarder.[2][1][3] Musikerne stilte opp gratis og flyselskap tilbød seg å frakte artistene gratis. Wembley krevde først 1 million for leie av stadion og gikk raskt ned til 150.000 pund. Prinsesse Diana og prins Charles var til stede på Wembley.[1] Overføringen varte i 16 timer blant annet på NRK.[4]
