FC Schalke 04 en tysk fotballklubb fra industribyen Gelsenkirchen i delstaten Nordrhein-Westfalen. Med over 119 000 medlemmer er klubben den nest største idrettsforeningen i Tyskland (etter Bayern München) og den femte største i verden. Den ble stiftet i 1904 under navnet Westfalia Schalke, men skiftet navn til FC Schalke 04 i 1924. Opprinnelig var Schalke 04 et lag med sterk tilknytning til bergverksdrift, flere av fortidens kjente spillere var gruvearbeidere.
