Sleeping with the Past er det 22. studioalbumet av britiske sangeren Elton John, utgitt i 1989.[1]
Det er hans bestselgende album i Danmark, og det er dedikert til hans mangeårige låtskriverpartner Bernie Taupin.[1]
Albumet toppet listene i England, Sveits og New Zealand, og det ble nummer 23 på Billboard Hot 200.[1] Det var hans første nummer 1 album i England siden Greatest Hits i 1974.[1] Det ble også hans første platina-album i Storbritannia siden Too Low for Zero.
Det ble gitt ut tre singler fra albumet.[2] Den første var Healing Hands, som nådde 13. plass på Billboard Hot 100 og 45. plass i England.[3] Sacrifice ble gitt ut som andre singel, og den nådde 55. plass i England, men da den ble gitt ut på nytt året etter gikk den helt til topps,[4] og den ble med det hans første solo førsteplass-singel i hjemlandet .[1] Sacrifice ble nummer 18 på Billboard Hot 100.[5] Den tredje singelen var The Club at the End of the Street, som ble nummer 47 i England og 28 på Billboard Hot 100.[6]
