Jarle Rosseland f. 1952 i Bergen, bosatt i Oslo. Tilknyttet Hardingpuls, BBK, NBK og NG. Var i mer enn 20 år bosatt i Drammen.

UTDANNING[rediger | rediger kilde]

Siden tidlig barndom elev av far Inggard Rosseland og flere av hans samtidige under oppveksten på Ekely kunstnerkoloni i Oslo. Selvstudier og deltagelse kroki i Munch atelieret, samt trykket Lito og Lino-snitt i atelierets grafikk verksted. Yngste deltager på Høstutstillingen 18år, 1970.

1970 – 1973 Silvermine Guild of Artists, Connecticut under professor Gabor Peterdi ved Yale University, Hayter tekniker, USA.

1970 – 1973 Sommersemestre ved Atelier Nord under Anne Breivik, Oslo.

Selvstudier, multikunstner, tilknyttet internasjonale kunstnermiljøer: USA, Frankrike, Spania, Croatia, Slovenia, Israel og Japan.

For Jarle Rosseland har tiden aldri stått stille. Han har hele tiden fornyet seg med en uendelig idérikdom. Han deltok 18år gammel på Høstutstillingen og holdt sine første separatutstillinger i Århus og UKS året etter. Kunstnerfaren Inggard Rosseland mente han måtte komme seg ut for ikke å la seg påvirke for mye av miljøet i Norge. Han har arbeidet på mange kontinent, ofte med andre paletter enn den norske. Det er likevel slik at livet ute, lengselen etter eget land, la grunnlaget for et særlig skarpsynt for de klare norske fargene og norsk egenart. Han var tidlig ute og møtte motgang for det. Det sanselige enkle fargelandskapet som nå er vanlig har ikke alltid vært akseptert. Christian K. Narkiewicz-Laine, president i The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of modern architecture, art and design, sier det slik:

  «Det er alene en anerkjent norsk samtidskunstner som vektlegger den rike arven av nordisk tradisjon – både den metafysiske, historieverden, kunst, landskap og de nordiske folks åndelige bestrebelser som går tilbake til Vikingtiden.

   Jarle Rosseland har lykkes i og levendegjøre denne rike tradisjonen i sine malerier, sin grafikk, i skulpturer og billedvev ved å bringe tilskueren nærmere til det som har inspirert norske forfattere, diktere, malere og handverker gjennom generasjoner.

Kunsten hans, kompleks, gjennomarbeidet, spirituell og opphøyet har blitt vist I gallerier og museer verden over og har representert en ny forståelse for hvordan skandinavisk historie, og da særlig den norske, har formet og definert denne unike kulturen ved Europas nordligste grense.”

Museet har en samling av 19 malerier samt 25 grafiske blad, illustrasjoner til Krigsskolens 250 års jubileet hvorav ett motiv var offisiell gave til president Bill Clinton under statsbesøket i Norge 99.

Jarle Rosseland was borne in Bergen Norway but grew up at Ekely in Oslo. Edvard Munch’s property donated to become northern Europe’s largest artist community at the time. He was since early childhood a student by his artist father Inggard Rosseland and several of his contemporaries. Jarle Rosseland exhibited at the government’s autumn show 18 years old.

Education: 1970 – 1973 studied under Professor Gabor Peterdi by Silvermine Guild of Artists in Connecticut and at Yale University, Hayter techniques, USA. 1970 – 1973, summer semester at Atelier Nord by Anne Breivik, Oslo Norway. Self-studies, multi artist, associated with international artist communities in the USA, Europe and Asia. He has held more than 300 exhibitions whereof 21 in National Museums.

Jarle Rosseland was born in Bergen Norway but grew up at Ekely in Oslo. Ekely is famous for once having been the home of Edvard Munch but by 1952 his estate had become northern Europe’s largest artist community.  

As a young child, Jarle became a student of his artist father, Inggard Rosseland, and several of his father’s contemporaries.  At the early age of 18, Jarle exhibited at the Norwegian Government’s prestigious Annual Autumn Show.

Jarle Rosseland (født 19. januar 1952 i Bergen) er en norsk bildekunstner.

Jarle Rosseland var elev av sin far Inggard Rosseland. Fra 1971-1972 var han student ved Silverline Guild of Artists i Connecticut i USA.

Hans arbeidsområde omfatter grafikk, maleri, design, skulptur og bildevev.[3] Han har blant annet vært opptatt av det norrøne, blant annet i sin Vinland-serie med motiver og detaljer fra blant annet vikingtidens treskurd.

Rosseland lager ofte sine bilder i serier (eller billedsuiter), som «Livets tre»-seriene, Vinland-serien og Viking-suiten.

Rosseland har hatt en rekke utstillinger i Norge, Europa, Asia, USA og Canada. Han har stilt ut på nasjonalmuseer i flere land og er innkjøpt av Nasjonalgalleriet, Norsk kulturråd, Riksgalleriet, Oslo, Oslo kommunes samlinger og Bergen Billedgalleri. I 2006 utformet han diplomet til Nobels fredspris.
