Terry Eagleton på Commons

Terry Francis Eagleton (født 22. februar 1943 i Salford, England) er en britisk filosof og litteraturteoretiker. Han har blitt karakteristert som en «akademisk revolusjonær».

Eagleton er professor i engelsk litteratur ved Universitetet i Lancaster og er gjesteprofessor ved National University of Ireland, Galway. Han har skrevet særlig om litteraturteori og flere artikler og politiske kommentarer for aviser, blant annet New Statesman, Red Pepper og The Guardian. Eagleton har også utgitt en trilogi om irsk kultur. Eagleton har stått som forfatter av over førti bøker, blant annet The Ideology of the Aesthetic (1990), The Illusions of Postmodernism (1996) og Literary Theory: An Introduction (1983). Som en marxist utga han i 2011 et forsvar for marxisme i Why Marx Was Right.
