Abbott og Costello

Abbott og Costello var et amerikansk komikerpar, bestående av Bud Abbott (1895–1974) og Lou Costello (1906–1959).[1]
Abbott og Costello er særlig kjent for sketsjen «Who's on First?», som de framførte ved flere anledninger.[1]
Karriere[rediger | rediger kilde]
De opptrådte sammen regelmessig på scenen fra 1931.[trenger referanse] Fra 1936 opptrådte de fast som en duo kalt Abbott & Costello.[1] I 1939 fremførte de sketsjen «Who's on First?» på radio, i programmet Kate Smith Radio Hour, og dette ble deres store gjennombrudd som komikere. Det tok ikke lang tid før de var blitt Hollywood-stjerner.[1] De gjorde størst suksess i en rekke filmer årene 1940–1956. Særlig filmen Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein gjorde enorm suksess.[1]
De hadde også sitt eget program på TV fra 1952 til 1954, The Abbott & Costello Show på tv-kanalen CBS,[1] og et eget radioprogram.[2]
Duoen ble oppløst i 1956. Costello døde i 1959 og Abbott i 1974,[1] men Abbott og Costello ble igjen populære som tegnefilm utover 60-tallet.
