Adam, Ryan, Mickey og Jesse hadde gått på skole sammen og startet bandet Kara´s Flowers. Da Adam hørte James spille på en bar (da i bandet Square) sa han at det var det beste han hadde hørt. Da James ble med i bandet kalte de seg Maroon 5.
2006: Ryan Dusick måtte forlate Maroon 5 pga nerveskader som gjør det umulig å fortsette som trommeslager i et liveband. Matt Flynn tar over etter Ryan Dusick.
