Vega-test er en diagnosemetode innenfor alternativ behandling som utføres med et elektrisk apparat og som angivelig skal kunne påvise allergier og andre sykdomstilstander hos pasienten.[1] Apparatet som benyttes er en videreføring av et apparat utviklet av Reinholdt Voll på 1950-tallet som en form for elektroakupunktur. Helmut Schimmel modifiserte teknikken og introduserte på 1970-tallet apparatet som Vega-tester.[2]

En rekke medisinske organisasjoner har frarådet Vega-test, blant disse National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence,[3][4] Australian College of Allergy,[2] Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy,[5] American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology[6] og Allergy Society of South Africa.[7] I 1990 fikk en behandler på New Zealand kritikk fra den medisinske disiplinærkomité for å ha anvendt en Vega-tester i sin praksis.[8] En canadisk behandler fikk tilsvarende reprimande i 1999.[9][10]

Gjennomgang av tilgjengelig dokmentasjon i den medisinske litteratur indikerer at elektrodermal testing slik den utføres ved en Vega-test er uegnet til å påvise allergier.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
