I have just discovered that the Hymn tune "Navnet Jesus Blekner Aldri" (used by the Lutherans and the Salvation Army internationally) is known in South Africa as "Nkosi Yam". There is plenty of information on the internet, including on Wikipedia, concerning "Navnet Jesus Blekner Aldri", and the fact that it came from South Africa to Scandinavia, but nowhere is information to be found that the original in South Africa is still extant under the name "Nkosi Yam". The tune IS in South African Methodist Hymnals as "Nkosi Yam", and its composition is credited to the Methodist Missionary Henry H. Dugmore (who died decades before the Lutherans took the tune to Scandinavia). It would be nice, seeing "Navnet Jesus Blekner Aldri" is so popular, if internet information made reference to the original "Nkosi Yam", and the probability that it was composed by Henry Hare Dugmore. Also, while the Lutherans and the Salvation Army refer to it as a "Zulu melody", it is clear that H. H. Dugmore (refer to his Wikipedia entry) composed hymns in the Xhosa language, not the Zulu.
