Hoxsey ble født i Staunton, Illinois 15. oktober 1884. Da han var i begynnelsen av tyveårene flyttet han med sine foreldre til [[Pasadena|Pasadena, California]]. og arbeidet som bilmekaniker og sjåfør. I 1909 -1910 førte hans mekaniske evner til et møte med [[Brødrene Wright]]. I mars 1910 åpnet Brødrene Wright en flyskole i [[Montgomery|Montgomery, Alabama]] og Hoxsey ble lærer der. Der ble han den første flyver som gjennomført en nattflyvning. |

Biografi
Hoxsey ble født i Staunton, Illinois 15. oktober 1884. Da han var i begynnelsen av tyveårene flyttet han med sine foreldre til Pasadena, California. og arbeidet som bilmekaniker og sjåfør. I 1909 -1910 førte hans mekaniske evner til et møte med Brødrene Wright. I mars 1910 åpnet Brødrene Wright en flyskole i Montgomery, Alabama og Hoxsey ble lærer der. Der ble han den første flyver som gjennomført en nattflyvning.
Den 11. oktober 1910 på Kinloch-feltet i St. Louis tok han Theodore Roosevelt opp i et fly.[1]
