Norsk bokmål: Bildetekst: "Sogneprest Niels Nielsen Griis til Sigdal,d. 1704, m. 2 hustruer Boel Hansdatter d. 1686 o. Rebekka Johannesdatter Stenkuhl.204 cm. br. 168 cm. h.Sigdal Kirke." Dette er fra Holmen Kirke i Sigdal der Niels Niesen Griis (død 1704) var prest, gift Bodil Hansdtr. Deres sønn Niels Griis (1672–1746) ble prest og diplomat. Niels (sr.) giftet seg igjen med Rebekka Stenkuhl (1667–1728), og det nevnes ikke hvordan kunstneren har klart å få alle tre inn på samme bilde samtidig.
