Photograph of an Indian Army 10 pounder Mountain Gun crew in action, East Africa, World War I.
This is possibly the 28th Mountain Battery in the Lake Victoria region. It supported British amphibious operations at Shirati & Bukoba in German East Africa.
The gun shield is a local addition, made and fitted at the Uganda Railway workshop, Nairobi, in 1914.
