Straffeekspedisjon

En straffeekspedisjon er en militær kampanje som har som overordnet mål å straffe en stat eller bestemt en gruppe personer. En slik kampanje gjennomføres vanligvis som svar på observert ulydig eller feil moralsk atferd, men kan også være en form for skjult hevn. Begrepet «straffeekspedisjon» brukes vanligvis om fremrykning mot kolonier eller annekterte provinser, og dermed kan for eksempel Julius Cæsars Galler-felttog betegnes som slike straffeekspedisjoner.
