Beskrivelse

Beskrivelse
English: Inaugural issue of The Japan Times, March 22, 1897 Created from the 100th anniversary replica of The Japan Times. The actual item does not remain in The Japan Times. Microfish are located at The Japan Times and News Park (Japan Newspaper Museum).

JT first issue page 1: Partly 5 sen, 1 month subscription was 1 yen (1 yen), 1 year subscription fee was pick up yen (10 yen). 6 pages. The center of the title is a picture of Mt. Fuji. Following the British Times at the time, newspapers began with advertising. This first page is also filled with advertisements from various companies.

Reflecting the times, the advertisements of the metal company Osaka Crucible Manufacturing Company (which was merged with the Osaka Crucible Manufacturing Company, now Japan Crucible Co., Ltd.) and Hokkaido Coal Mine Railway Co., Ltd. are at the top. There are also advertisements for typewriters (upper left), Swiss clocks (upper right), cigarettes (lower center), pianos (lower right), and champagne.

Inaugural issue of The Japan Times, March 22,
