Beskrivelse

Elisabeth Sofie Gyldenløve was the daughter of King Christian IV of Denmark and one of his mistresses, Vibeke Kruse. She was his youngest child. She had one full brother, Ulrik Christian Gyldenløve (1630–1658), who was a military commander.

Elisabeth Sofie married Maj.-Gen. Claus von Ahlefeldt in June 1648 as his second wife, shortly after the deaths of the king in February and her mother at the end of April. He was 34 years old; she was 14 and a half. Her father had arranged the marriage for political reasons four years previously. They had one child together in 1650, and Elisabeth Sofie died six years later at the age of 20.
