Swans på Commons

Swans er et band som ble startet i 1982 av Michael Gira. De er knyttet til det avantgardistiske no wave-miljøet i New York fra slutten av 1970-tallet og blir klassifisert som eksperimentell rock.[21] Bandet var kjent for et brutalt lydbilde og misantropiske tekster frem til keyboardisten Jarboe (fullt navn Jarboe La Salle Devereaux) ble med i 1986 og brakte med seg en mildere og mer melodiøs tilnærming i årene frem til de ble oppløst i 1997.[22] Senere versjoner av bandet har vært uten Jarboe. I årene 2010-2017 samarbeidet Gira med en fast besetning av musikere. Fra ny oppstart i 2019, har han hentet inn samarbeidspartnere for hver anledning – innspillinger og opptredener.[23]
